In 2004, the apparentconsumption of polycarbonate in the world was 2.782 million tons,and the consumption of optical media was the fast-growing field ofpolycarbonate, accounting for 24% , followed by electronics /electrical and building materials, each accounting for 19% , andautomobiles about 13% , north America's car industry consumes farmore polycarbonate than Western Europe, Japan and elsewhere,accounting for about 38 per cent of global car consumption.
