The structureand characteristics of toughened grade PA66 are that PA66 is apolar group with hydrophilicity, and the amide group containscarbon-oxygen double bond and nitrogen-hydrogen single bond,moreover, hydrogen bonds can be formed between the molecules, andPA66 has higher crystallinity because of its regular moleculararrangement. The properties of PA66 depend on the proportion ofmethylene or aromatic group to amide group in the main chain. PA66macromolecule contains amino-NHz and carboxyl-COOH at the end ofthe main chain, which have certain reactivity under certainconditions. It can be modified by chemical and physical methodssuch as block, grafting, blending, reinforcing and filling. Theacid-base titration method can be used to determine the end groupconcentration of PA66, but the difficulty lies in the choice ofsolvent, because PA66 only dissolved in strong acid and Cresol atroom temperature. As engineering plastics, PA66 has the advantagesof high mechanical strength, low friction coefficient, goodself-lubrication, shock absorption and silencing, heat resistance,wear resistance, chemical resistance, non-toxic and odourless, etc., and affect the dimensional stability and electrical properties.PA66 contains active Amino and carboxyl groups, which can be easilymodified to improve the properties of the product. For example,nylon has good affinity with glass fiber. Therefore, PA66 materialsare widely used in all kinds of machinery, transportation,electronic and electrical, film and industrial components, etc. ,in replacing metal, saving energy, labor protection and improvingwork efficiency, etc. , the advantages of PA66 engineeringmaterials are increasingly shown. Compared with metal materials,PA66 is less rigid, but its specific strength is higher. Unlikemetal materials, PA66 is used as polymer material in thetemperature range, tensile strength varies with temperature andwater absorption. The fatigue strength of polyamide is 20%-30% oftensile strength, which is lower than nickel steel and carbonsteel, but similar to cast iron and aluminum alloy.
