The research of PBT polymer began in 1982, with trial productionin Shanghai Polyester Factory, 50 t/a pilot test in collaborationwith Wusong Chemical Plant and 400 t/a pilot test in BeijingChemical Research Institute. The capacity of the production unit isnot more than 1000t at best, and the consumption is not much.However, with the development of national economy and the increaseof market demand, the PBT production capacity in China hasincreased rapidly. In 1994, the 5000t/a continuous process (DMTroute) PBT resin production plant of Nantong Synthetic MaterialPlant was built and put into operation, becoming the firstcontinuous ester exchange PBT resin production plant in Asia.
