Generally speaking, polycarbonate has no interaction withgrease, oil and acid, and is stable in pure gasoline. PCpolycarbonate has a high light transmittance of 87% - 90% and arefractive index of 1.587, which is higher than that of othertransparent polymers such as acrylate, so it can be used as lensoptical materials. Polycarbonate also has good weather resistanceand heat aging resistance. After two years of outdoor exposure, itsperformance basically does not change. Polycarbonate can be moldedby injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, vacuum molding,thermoforming and other methods, and injection molding, extrusionand blow molding are often used. The melt viscosity ofpolycarbonate is higher than that of general thermoplastic. Polycarbonate used for good mechanical properties, creepresistance is also very good, is better than the poly (phthalamide)and polyoxymethylene, especially the glass fiber reinforced PCpolycarbonate vinegar has better creep resistance, so it can bearhigher load at higher temperature and ensure the dimensionalstability. The main disadvantages of polycarbonate mechanicalproperties are easy to produce stress cracking, poor fatigueresistance, high notch sensitivity, no wear resistance and so on.PC has good high and low temperature resistance, good heatresistance at 120 ℃ and hot deformation temperature of 130 ~ 140 ℃.The brittleness temperature is - 100 ℃ and the long-term servicetemperature is - 70 ~ 120 ℃. Moreover, its thermal conductivity andspecific heat capacity are not high, its coefficient of linearexpansion is small, its flame retardancy is good, and it has selfextinguishing property. As a kind of weak polar polymer, PC hasbetter electrical insulation although its electrical insulation isnot as good as polyolefin.
