PPS FZ1140日本油墨---PPS history:
Until it was used as super engineering plastics
The earliest PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) has a long history, which was exposed by Freidel and craft in 1888. In the late 1940s,it was thought that it might be a commercially important resin.
Later, Phillips oil company developed a business process in theUnited States, which was first successfully put into commercialoperation in 1973. Initially, PPS had relatively low molecularweight and was developed for coating. On the other hand, it wasfound that the moldability and mechanical properties were improvedby increasing the molecular weight through superheatedcross-linking reaction in the presence of oxygen, and it hadexcellent heat resistance and chemical resistance, which could beused as injection molding resin with excellent heat resistance andchemical resistance, and could be used in super engineeringtechnology. The demand for plastics has grown.
DIC promotes widespread use in Japan
In Japan, we import basic resin, kneaded glass fiber reinforcedconcrete and fillers from Phillips oil company in the UnitedStates, and start to develop the market as molding compound.
After the basic manufacturing method patent of Phillipspetroleum expired in November 1984, several companies including ourcompany began to operate PPS plants one after another. Comparedwith the domestic market scale, the domestic supply capacity ofbasic resin has been greatly surplus, and with the fierce pricecompetition, improvement and new application developmenthave also begun.
At present, by increasing the molecular weight in thepolymerization stage, we are developing linear, high molecularweight branched polymer and cross-linked high toughness type, andthe type with low burr and low gasification, which can improve theplasticity is synthetic surface. It was developed by improvingcomposite technology. Most PPS polymers are processed as injectionmolding compounds, and their applications are expanding, especiallyin electrical and electronic and automotive electricalcomponents.
