POLYFORMALDEHYDEthermoplastic crystalline polymer. Known as "Super Steel" or "steelmatch" , also known as polyoxymethylene. Short for POM. Thepolymers usually obtained by Formaldehyde polymerization have lowdegree of polymerization and are easy to be depolymerized by heat.Can Be used as organic chemicals, synthetic resin raw materials,also used as pharmaceutical fumigant. Pom is a hard, dense materialwith a smooth, lustrous surface. It is yellowish or white, and thethin-walled part is translucent. The combustion characteristic iseasy to burn, continue to burn after leaving the fire, the upperend of the flame is yellow, the lower end is blue, melting drippingoccurs, there is a strong pungent smell of Formaldehyde, fishysmell. Expanded Data: POM has high strength, rigidity, goodelasticity, good wear resistance. Its Mechanical Properties areexcellent, specific strength up to 50.5 MPA, specific stiffness upto 2650 MPA, very close to the metal. The mechanical properties ofPom Changed Little with temperature, and the change ofcopolymerized POM was slightly larger than that of homopolymerizedPOM. The impact strength of POM is higher than that of ABS and PC,but the impact strength of POM is sensitive to notch. The fatiguestrength of POM is very outstanding. The fatigue strength of POMunder 10 cyclic loading is 35MPA, while that of PA and PC is only28MPa. The creep behavior of POM is similar to that of PA..Theecreep behavior ofPOMM is only 2.3% at 20°CC, 21MPAA and 3000H.. TheFriction Coefficient of POM is small, the wear resistance of POM isgood (POM & GT; PA66 & GT; PA6 & GT; ABS & GT; HPVC & GT; PS & GT;PC) , the limit PV is very big, the self-lubrication is good.
