Selar® PA 3426 is an amorphous nylon (polyamide) resinwhich exhibits superior transparency, good barrier properties togases, water, solvents and essential oils and high temperaturestructural properties which make it suitable for consideration in anumber of applications.
Features:
Selar® PA 3426 barrier resin can be utilized in bothflexible and rigid packaging structures and is characterized byvery good gas O2, CO2 and moisture barrier. Furthermore, Selar® PAis unique in that its gas barrier improves with increasing relativehumidity. It has excellent physical properties, high temperatureresistance and excellent optical properties desirable in astructural resin. Like other nylons, Selar® PA barrier resin is anexcellent barrier for many types of solvent systems. In general ithas good resistance to aliphatic, aromatic hydrocarbons, dilutealkalis, higher molecular weight alcohols, and low concentrationsof lower molecular weight alcohols. It is not recommended for acidsor concentrated lower molecular weight alcohols. End use testing isrecommended for each application. With its high degree ofstiffness, very good gas and moisture barrier, solvent resistanceand excellent gloss and clarity, Selar® PA used in monolayerprovides a "glass like" container for rigid packaging.
Applications:
High melt viscosity for extrusion processes such asEBM.
Improved performance in shrink applications when blendedwith nylon 6.
Monolayer - blow molded tubes, pharmacuetical vials orbottles, typically less than 4 ounces.
Nylon 6 modification for higher heat resistance, betteroxygen barrier, broader thermoforming window.
